Cross Country
On Tuesday 24th May we had our school cross country. Everyone participated and completed the course in fantastic times!
Rm 15 had 10 students qualify for the Kaiapoi Schools event which was held Tuesday 31st May. It was a great day and we had a huge amount of support - thank you to all the parents who helped with transport and came along to cheer everyone on. From this event Johanna, Emily, Sammi, Lucy and Zayne have qualified to compete at the Pegasus Zones Cross Country to be held next week....GOOD LUCK!!!

Swimming in our PJ's!!
Today was the last day of swimming lessons for our class. To finish off the swimming programme some of the students had to bring along their pj's to practise swimming in clothing. The children had to swim 25m then dread water for 1minute before trying to take off their clothing in the water. Then they had a series of relays that involved kicking and balancing ducks! The children have made great progress in their swimming ability and today was a awesome way to end a successful swimming programme - check
out the photos below!!
Down the Back Paddock
This week Matai and Rimu syndicates took part in Down the Back Paddock. We moved around 13 activities ranging from Firearms to Poisonous Plants and had fun learning new things!
We learnt how to put someone into the recovery position. |
Kira put Lucy into the recovery position. |
We know how to fit a helmet correctly, and should wear one everytime we get onto a bike! |
Store guns away in a locked cupboard and make sure that the bullets and bolt are locked away in seperate places. |
Always wash your hands after being in the garden as there are many poisonous plants in our gardens - you would be surprised!! |
Always ask the owner before you pat a dog that you don't know. |
When crossing a river cross together with the smallest person in the middle. |
Here we are in the turtle position - we certainly know how to do this! |
Jenna's leaving
Well the first day back at school for term 2 was a sad one for Rm 15 - we found out that Jenna was leaving for Auckland and Holly was staying in England! The class signed a Goodbye card for Jenna and she rang the bell to recognise her time at Woodend School. Good luck girls - please keep in touch with us on the blog! We will miss you!
